What do school nurses do? |
School nursing is a specialized practice of nursing. It protects and promotes student health, facilitates optimal development, and advances academic success. School nurses are grounded in ethical and evidence-based practice. They are the leaders who bridge health care and education, provide care coordination, advocate for quality student-centered care, and collaborate to design systems that allow individuals and communities to develop their full potential. The school nurse supports student success by providing health care through assessment, intervention, and follow-up for all children within the school setting. The school nurse addresses the physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs of students and supports their achievement in the learning process. |
