About Belleville Middle School

Belleville Middle School (BMS) is made up of approximately 140 7th and 8th-grade students.  Our dedicated and caring staff truly connects with students to engage them academically and promote positive social interactions with their peers.  The staff place an emphasis on relevant, hands-on learning, including the Middle School Market, project-based learning during P.R.I.D.E. homeroom, peer tutoring, and access to opportunities in a state-of-the art STEM lab.  In addition, they are leaders in technology integration and personalized learning with our 1:1 technology initiative.  Every 7th and 8th grader has access to their own Chromebook throughout the school day. The staff uses Go Guardian and Google Classroom to share materials, offer feedback, and provide for collaboration, as well as monitor student use.

As students transition to adolescence in middle school, it is a crucial time for social and emotional development. Our staff creates numerous team-building experiences to encourage students to be supportive of one another. These opportunities include field trips and bonding exercises at a low-ropes course and PBIS incentives, along with community service projects such as the Thanksgiving Turkey Drop. We place a priority on parent communication.  We also offer Sprigeo - an online, anonymous website for students to report bullying and harassment concerns.  The administrative and counseling staff addresses each Sprigeo report.

BMS shares facilities and staff with Belleville High School, so students have access to a wide-range of academic opportunities.  Outside of the core academic areas, students are exposed to German, Spanish, General Music, Project-Lead-the-Way Computer Science and Robotics, Art, Band and Choir, Agriculture, Health, and Physical Education. Other extracurricular offerings include:

Sports: Basketball, Cross Country, Track & Field, Volleyball, and Wrestling
Clubs: Drama, Forensics, DECA, GSA, Math Team, Student Council, and Yearbook
Music: Band and Choir
Spirit Days, Holiday Dances, and PBIS incentives

Welcome to Belleville where we “Discover, Engage, and Achieve.” The community of Belleville takes pride in its small town feel with big city opportunities, providing a safe and welcoming learning environment for our students. It’s always a great day to be a Wildcat!

E-mail from parent about our Middle School Staff

“Just wanted to send a note on the last day, to thank you for providing our daughter [Student Name] with the best year!  Her academic growth, personal growth and the strides she made this year were truly amazing.  She absolutely loved all of her teachers and it was really great to see her grow and the excitement she had for middle school.

Thank you for believing in her and giving her such a fabulous year!”
