The 2020-21 school year will begin like no other. This school year will force our staff, students, parents, and community to be proactive, flexible, and accept uncertainty. If there is a school district and community that can make the best of COVID-19, it is the Belleville Wildcats!
Now entering my seventh year as a part of the School District of Belleville, I am very proud to have been a small part of the success that the middle and high schools have achieved in that time. In my transition to district administrator, I am excited to learn more about the elementary school, the district as a whole, and its importance to the community.
The new administrative team, with the promotions of Kelsey Schmit and Heather Schmitz, Rebecca Johnson assuming another role as the Director of Teaching and Learning, and the addition of Melissa Riedel and Kyle Loshaw as associate principals, has positioned the district to continue its forward trajectory. We are energetic, passionate about our work, and dedicated to this school district.
I am constantly in awe of the parent support that the schools receive in Belleville. So much of student success is connected to strong, positive parental involvement. Especially in these challenging times, I know that our parents are all looking out for the best interests of their children and the Belleville community.
Our top priority is the safety of our students and staff. We will improve upon students’ virtual learning experience from last spring and plan to deliver the best instruction possible in this format. While most of our students start the year online, our staff will actively address the mental health needs of our students that we cannot see in a face-to-face environment. Through all of this, we will communicate clearly with families on a regular basis, and as always, are open to and will listen to your input.
It’s a great day to be a Wildcat!
