About Our School

Located 20 miles southwest of Madison, Belleville is a charming village that boasts a strong educational system along with a strong sense of family within the community. For a small city of just under 2,500 people, Belleville offers “big-school” opportunities for their students in a small-school atmosphere.  Belleville Intermediate School hosts 2nd through 6th grade school with just over 350 students and provides big-school opportunities in a safe, student-centered, welcoming environment that one would expect in a small town.  This is one of the many reasons Belleville was voted one of Madison’s best suburbs!

Belleville Intermediate School is committed to providing a positive, challenging, and academically oriented learning environment for all students.  With average class sizes of eighteen students per classroom, staff members are able to provide hands-on and differentiated instruction for all children.  In addition, we offer specialized, research based reading programs as well as tailored support for advanced learners.

Staff members are provided with research-based, on-site professional development around literacy best practices as part of our literacy curriculum, the Comprehensive Literacy Model (CLM).  Our school has certified literacy coaches who are instrumental in working with staff to develop and refine highly effective literacy practices for students.  In addition, this model supports the integration of reading and writing instruction in all content areas.

Along with a strong academic program, there are many opportunities for our students to learn about music, technology, art, as well as health and wellness.  Our school provides several before and after school club opportunities for students.

Belleville Intermediate School adopted the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports (PBIS) initiative several years ago.  This framework allows staff members to have a consistent approach to school-wide behavior expectations and discipline. We have created a positive environment for students and staff by establishing clear expectations for students by modeling and reinforcing appropriate behaviors school-wide through character education.

We welcome you to the School District of Belleville where we “Discover, Engage, and Achieve”  and we invite you to visit our school and see what a wonderful place it is!  It’s always a great day to be a Wildcat!
